Kraft Heinz has inked a definitive deal to acquire Primal Kitchen, the makers of condiments, sauces, and dressings, for about $200 million.
Kraft Heinz has entered into an agreement to acquire Primal Nutrition, the makers of Primal Kitchen branded products, for around $200 million. Founded by Mark Sisson and Morgan Buehler, the company focuses on condiments, sauces, and salad dressings, which include mayonnaise and avocado oil.
The marque holds leading positions in e-commerce and natural channels, and is expected to generate approximately $50 million in net sales this year. Primal Kitchen joins Kraft Heinz under Springboard, which is the former’s platform that partners with industry-disrupting founders and businesses.
The Primal Kitchen and Springboard alliance realises Sisson’s vision to change the way people eat. Still operating as an autonomous entity, the Primal Kitchen headquarters will remain in Oxnard, California, along with its current leadership.
“The proposed partnership with Primal Kitchen is consistent with our vision to be the best food company, growing a better world. Their team has built an amazing portfolio of the world’s best-tasting, health-enhancing, real-food pantry staples,” said Paulo Basilio, US Zone President for Kraft Heinz.
