Dove announces plans to tackle plastic use

Dove soap have announced plans to replace the plastic packaging around its bars and to ensure all bottled products come in recycled plastic.

The well known soap brand owned by Unilever have said that from next year their bars of soap will be single-use plastic-free and they are also planning to get rid of the plastic around the multi packs of soap bars.

The recycled plastic bottles of Dove products will be introduced next year, though the company are still looking for solutions for the caps and pumps. They also have plans to launch a refillable deodorant which would use stainless steel packaging.

Richard Slater, Unilever’s chief research and development officer commented: “At Dove, we are proud to have more than 100 initiatives ongoing around the world dedicated to tackling plastic waste. But as one of the biggest beauty brands in the world, we have a responsibility to accelerate our progress even further.

“By making this move, we aim to drive the global recycling industry to collect more waste plastic and make more recycled plastic available for use.”
